EV strategy
Mahindra's EV strategy is anchored by INGLO, a born-electric skateboard platform co-developed with Volkswagen Group (which supplies the MEB battery cells and electric components under a 2022 commercial agreement). INGLO is shared between two sub-brands launched in 2024-25: BE (the design-led "Born Electric" sub-brand) and XEV (the more conservative SUV form factor).
The BE 6 and XEV 9e launched in late 2024 and early 2025 respectively, both starting around ₹19 lakh ex-showroom and stretching above ₹30 lakh on top trims. Mahindra positions these vehicles a clear tier above Tata's mass-market lineup, targeting the same buyer segment as the Hyundai Creta Electric and (eventually) the Maruti e Vitara, with stronger styling and richer feature lists as the differentiator.
Mahindra's after-sales model is the most innovative in the segment: lifetime battery warranty for first owners, 24×7 roadside assistance, and doorstep eVan service in pilot cities. The company also runs a separate "Last Mile Mobility" business through Mahindra Electric for commercial three-wheelers and mini-trucks, reflecting a wider EV ambition than passenger cars alone.
