Which electric SUVs have an auto-dimming IRVM on every variant?
The e Vitara Delta is the cheapest electric SUV with an auto-dimming IRVM as standard on the base variant. The Hyundai Creta Electric fits it to five of ten variants, the MG Windsor EV to four of five, the Mahindra BE 6 Sporteq and XEV 9e from the second pack, and the Tata Punch.ev, Nexon.ev and Curvv.ev only on upper trims. MG lists a manual mirror on every ZS EV variant. The BYD Sealion 7, Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6 were not verified and are left out.
Three electric SUVs with more than one variant fit an auto-dimming inside mirror to all of them: the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara (Delta, Zeta and Alpha, from Rs 16,19,000), the VinFast VF6 (three variants, from Rs 18,19,000) and the VinFast VF7 (five variants, from Rs 22,99,000). We checked ten other electric SUVs against their makers' current variant grids and variant cards, and every one either starts the feature on a mid or upper trim or, in the MG ZS EV's case, does not offer it at all.
That makes the e Vitara Delta the cheapest electric SUV in India with an auto-dimming IRVM as standard. The rest of this article shows the proof for each car and where the mirror begins on the ones that did not make the cut.
Auto-dimming IRVM by variant
| SUV | Variants | Auto-dimming IRVM | Starting price (ex-showroom) | How the maker lists it |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Maruti Suzuki e Vitara | Delta, Zeta, Alpha | All three | Rs 16,19,000 | "Day & Night Adjustable IRVM (Auto)" |
| VinFast VF6 | Earth, Wind, Wind Infinity | All three | Rs 18,19,000 | "Bezel-less Auto Dimming IRVM" |
| VinFast VF7 | Earth, Wind, Wind Infinity, Sky, Sky Infinity | All five | Rs 22,99,000 | "Bezel-less Auto Dimming IRVM" |
Fitment is read from the NEXA e Vitara brochure and VinFast's June 2026 VF6 and VF7 brochures. Prices are the starting ex-showroom prices on NEXA's price page (Delhi) and VinFast's website on 13 October 2026.
What the mirror does, briefly
An auto-dimming (electrochromic) mirror has a light sensor facing forward and one facing back. When the rear sensor sees much more light than the front one, which is what a high beam behind you at night looks like, a gel layer in the glass darkens and cuts the reflection. In daylight both sensors read bright and nothing happens.
A manual day and night mirror does a cruder version of the same job with a flip tab. It works, but you have to reach for it, and it stays dim until you flip it back. On an unlit highway with trucks behind, that is the difference between a feature you use and one you forget.
The three that qualify
1. Maruti Suzuki e Vitara
Variants: Delta (49 kWh), Zeta (61 kWh), Alpha (61 kWh). Prices: Rs 16,19,000, Rs 17,94,000 and Rs 19,99,000 (Rs 20,21,000 for the Alpha with a dual-tone roof).
The safety grid in the e Vitara brochure has a row reading "Day & Night Adjustable IRVM (Auto)" with a tick under all three variants. There is no manual-mirror row for the Delta, so the entry car gets the same mirror as the top one.
Several other night and bad-weather items are also ticked across the range:
- Auto headlamps with follow-me-home
- Rain-sensing front wipers
- Acoustic and IR-cut windscreen
- Rear demister, and a rear wiper that switches on when you select reverse in the rain
- Electrically adjustable, electrically folding and auto-folding door mirrors
- Front parking sensors
What does not carry across is equally clear in the grid. The Delta has rear parking sensors but no reverse camera; the camera arrives on the Zeta. The 360-degree camera, LED fog lamps, auto headlamp levelling and the adaptive high-beam system are Alpha only, along with the whole Level 2 driver-assistance suite. So the Delta handles glare from behind well and does less about seeing ahead and around.
Seven airbags are standard on all three, and the SUV holds a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating (31.49 out of 32 for adults, 43 out of 49 for children) that covers Delta, Zeta and Alpha. Claimed range is 440 km for the Delta and 543 km for the other two.
2. VinFast VF6
Variants: Earth, Wind, Wind Infinity. Starting price: Rs 18,19,000.
VinFast's feature list shows "Bezel-less Auto Dimming IRVM: YES" as a single cell spanning all three variants. The same is true of the 360-degree surround view camera, blind spot detection, rain-sensing wipers and seven airbags, so the Earth is unusually well covered for a base variant.
The gaps on the Earth are elsewhere. It has no head-up display, no wireless phone charger, single-zone climate control and no ventilated seats. It also has plain cruise control, with the lane-keeping and automatic emergency braking functions reserved for the Wind and Wind Infinity. All three use a 59.6 kWh battery, with a claimed 468 km for the Earth and 463 km for the other two.
Its Bharat NCAP result is 27.13 out of 32 for adults and 44.41 out of 49 for children, a lower adult score than the e Vitara's.
3. VinFast VF7
Variants: Earth, Wind, Wind Infinity, Sky, Sky Infinity. Starting price: Rs 22,99,000.
Five variants, and the mirror is on all of them. The VF7's grid goes further than the VF6's: auto-dimming door mirrors, heated door mirrors, a head-up display and the 360-degree camera are all marked YES across the range, as are seven airbags.
As on the VF6, the driver-assistance functions other than blind spot detection begin at the Wind, and the Earth misses the wireless charger and powered tailgate. The Earth uses a 59.6 kWh battery (438 km claimed), the Wind pair a 70 kWh battery (532 km) and the all-wheel-drive Sky pair the same battery for 510 km. The Bharat NCAP rating is 28.54 out of 32 for adults and 45.25 out of 49 for children, and it covers all five variants.
VinFast shows only the starting price on its site, so we have not printed prices for the other four variants.

A few of these are worth a second look.
The Hyundai Creta Electric splits exactly in half. Hyundai's grid gives five of its ten variants a "day and night mirror with telematics switches" and the other five an "electro chromic mirror". A Premium at Rs 19,99,900 has a wireless charger and a Bose sound system, and still has the manual mirror.
The MG ZS EV is the surprise. MG's safety grid lists "Manual Day/Night IRVM" with a tick under all four variants, including the Essence at Rs 20,74,600 that carries Level 2 driver assistance and a 360-degree camera. If this feature matters to you, no ZS EV variant will supply it from the factory.
The MG Windsor EV misses by one variant. Only the Rs 14,69,800 Excite has the manual mirror.
On the Mahindras, the pattern is consistent: the entry pack does without, and the second pack gets it.
The Tatas go the other way and hold it for the upper trims. On the Punch.ev it is on the top Empowered+ S 40 only, with a prismatic manual mirror from the Smart+. On the Curvv.ev it is on the Empowered X but not the Accomplished X, even though the Accomplished X has a panoramic sunroof and a 360-degree camera.
How this list was built, and what is not verified
For each SUV we opened the manufacturer's variant-wise feature grid and looked for the inside-mirror row. A car is in the main table only if that row is marked as fitted under every variant column. Marketing pages and "top features" lists were not used, because they describe the top trim.
Three SUVs from the draft this article started from are not included: the BYD Sealion 7, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and the Kia EV6. We could not obtain a current variant grid for any of them on 13 October 2026. The Ioniq 5 and EV6 are each sold in a single variant, so "every variant" would be true of them by definition and tells you nothing about how the maker equips a cheaper trim. At Rs 40 lakh and upward they are also a different purchase.
Other limits:
- The Harrier.ev entry relies on Tata's launch brochure, which puts the auto-dimming mirror on the Fearless+. Tata's current variant cards do not repeat the line, though they do list a camera-based digital mirror on the Empowered 75.
- NEXA's price page shows the e Vitara Alpha with the dual-tone roof by default; the Rs 19,99,000 single-tone figure is from the same NEXA price data.
- We did not test how well any of these mirrors dim. The brochures say whether the feature is fitted, and nothing about its quality.
Should this decide your purchase?
On its own, no. Aftermarket auto-dimming mirrors exist. But on newer cars the factory mirror housing can carry other hardware, as Hyundai's "with telematics switches" wording shows, so replacing it is not always clean.
It is more useful as a tell. A maker that fits it to the base variant has usually not stripped that variant in other ways, and both the e Vitara Delta and the VF6 Earth bear that out with seven airbags and auto headlamps as standard. If you are comparing base variants, also check the things that vary more: the reverse camera (missing on the e Vitara Delta), driver assistance (missing on every base variant here) and battery size.

Frequently asked questions
Which electric SUV has an auto-dimming IRVM on every variant?
Of the multi-variant electric SUVs we checked, three: the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, the VinFast VF6 and the VinFast VF7. Each maker's brochure marks the mirror as fitted under every variant column.
Does the base Maruti Suzuki e Vitara Delta get an auto-dimming mirror?
Yes. The brochure lists "Day & Night Adjustable IRVM (Auto)" on the Delta, Zeta and Alpha. The Delta does not get a reverse camera, a 360-degree camera or driver assistance.
Does the Hyundai Creta Electric have an auto-dimming IRVM?
On five of its ten variants: Excellence, Excellence Knight, Excellence LR, Excellence LR Knight and Lounge Edition. The Executive, Executive Tech, Premium, Executive (O) LR and Smart (O) LR have a manual day and night mirror.
Does the MG ZS EV have an auto-dimming mirror?
No. MG's brochure lists a manual day and night IRVM on all four variants, including the top Essence.
Which is the cheapest electric SUV with an auto-dimming IRVM?
The Tata Punch.ev Empowered+ S 40 at Rs 12,99,000, where it is a top-variant feature. The cheapest SUV with it as standard on the base variant is the e Vitara Delta at Rs 16,19,000.
Can I retrofit an auto-dimming mirror?
Usually, but check what the original mirror housing carries. If it holds telematics switches or a microphone, an aftermarket unit may not replace those functions.
